Just how close were you to these guys and did you have a tele on your camera to take this shot?

this was shot from a car window after they out in front of me on a gravel backroad in ne colorado. they paused to look back about 50 yards away as if to be laughing at me slamming on the brakes so i wouldn't hit them. probably had a 400mm lens on at the time.
