Where Were You August 9, 1974

From steps leading into this helicopter, Richard Nixon turned and bid farewell on a sad departing from the presidency on August 9, 1974. Perhaps, you recall his raised hands saying goodbye to a nation rightly disillusioned with politics. This was an American political low period ... from a public servant and to many, a good human being. This was a tradgic day among his victories. On Richard Nixon's grave it simply reads: "The greatest honor history can bestow is the title of Peacemaker".

I was seven. I was in Australia. Probably grooming my pony. It kinda passed me by (only to revisit me numerous times during my history lessons half a dozen years later).

I was 14. I remember being happy that he resigned. Thank God for Gerald Ford.
