omg ... what an amazing photo ... at first I thought your children were holding a star (from the thumbnail ) & I thought what a cool idea, until I saw your post ... WOW ... AMAZING!!

This weekend was a happy/somber time for my family too ... as it's the anniversary of my Dad's passing (May 27, 2003), but this year we celebrated my niece's H.S. graduation with honors & her Grampy would have been beaming!

Although my Mom & I visit my brother's family in GA & my sister's family in MA as often as we can ... we haven't been together as a family since my Dad passed away ... we really miss each other & are always hoping that this will be the "year" we can all get together ... so enjoy those moments when ever you can!

Congratulations to your daughter & wishing you're family a safe & wonderful weekend ~ Lynn

What a joyous and sad occasion all wrapped up in one. I just love this shot - will have to steal it (the concept) if you don't mind!

pat ... i'd bet big money that i am not the first to take this kind of photo. i thought it was unique and significant idea for our 5 kids because it is the first time they will be apart for a long period of time other than what tara might have in vacation time when she is state side. it was like their own completed circle with the star being especially significant this memorial weekend.
memorial day and its meaning was always something i taught the kids to be thankful for and respectful of. we used to go down to the end of our city parade where the color guard would fire 21 rounds over the cemetary. over the course of several years our kids picked up 21 rounds of those shell casings fired on about 6 memorial days at the cemetary. we made our own plaque with those rounds attached. still ... this was by far the most profoundly somber memorial day we ever had in our house. none of us will ever forget it.

Great shot - good for you. What a blessing! I enjoy your posts of your family life... Sometimes after all the great landscapes and funky shots, it is nice to remember our families who indulge us and our cameras.
