We heard from our daughter Tara again today after several days of silence. In the top photo, Tara (left) is pictured with friend Brandi Gallegos from New Mexico. In the middle photo, Tara (left) is pictured with friends Shellby Bailey from Alabama (center) and Shaila Clark from Wyoming (right). In the bottom photo, Tara poses with Shellby with their weekend barrack gangster faces. They are all getting a well deserved day off training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Days off are full of joy as you might well imagine. They have been working for weeks in 90-105 temperatures. This week they completed the gas chamber tests. Here is the Fort Sill Basic Training Video that shows a bit of what their daily life is like in their hot weather training. Next week they head to the rifle range. The photos from Fort Sill often lack quality due to poor lighting and using cell phone cameras but the happiness of a day off still comes shining through.
We are praying for you all!
Love, Dad

We thank them for their service to us all...and yes, they deserve a day off.
What brave & beautiful young woman they are. These are great shots of the girls. May they be kept safe & happy always!
Great pics--she looks like she's having fun despite the tiring training!! Thanks for linking the video--I was tired just watching it!! You go Tara!!!! You're in my prayers!!!
Hugs,
Sarah ☺
A day off!! What next? Your Army must be going soft. Maybe Tara used her charm on the leave Sargent.
bruce,
that's what i thought. she told me that they still had to get up at 5am and march a few miles but it was a day off where they were allowed to call home. she thinks boot camp is better than home. even the gas chamber test! now what is that supposed to make me feel like? ha!

My wife and me wish good luck for Tara and her service.
I understand your feeling of pride in your daughter as mine is a MP in the CO Army National Guard. She spent 18 months in Iraq, & would be in Afghanistan if she weren't pregnant. Your daughter sounds like she has a great squad. That's something she will always cherish! Please thank her for her service. I realize that she is just in basic right now, but for anyone to volunteer for service in wartime is a star in my book! I pray that the Lord watches over her and her fellow soldiers and guide them through safe passage. You have done an awesome job raising this beautiful, giving woman! If her unit is sent overseas, please have her or yourself go to Operation Write Home at the right side of the page at http://operationwritehome.org/heroes.html and sign up for cards to be sent to her for the unit so they have cards to send home. I've been making cards for them since my daughter went to Iraq in '08, and I can't say enough good about this organization! There is still so much love and support for our brave men and women in uniform which is a big contrast from the Vietnam War that I grew up with. Please wish her my best!
I'm sure nothing can replace seeing that smile. This is wonderful Steve.
They are having a great time. Best wishes to them.
You must burst with pride when talking about her. Pass on our thanks for her service.
Stephen the quality of the photos is unimportant compared to the spirit of Tara and her commitment to serve her country.
Your family must be so very proud of her.
Oh ... really proud heart of a father for his daughter!!! Can feel your joy. God bless Tara in every way.
Hugs,
Nina
God bless her and all our troops.
