OK ... so how to do this? It's not hard after you do it once ... but it is a little technical the first time. This is a photo of Christmas lights on a tree. You must have a tripod, zoom lens and the Irfanview free software to do this.
First, mount zoom lens to a DSLR camera and fix to a tripod. This was shot in Shutter priority, approximately 2 second exposure.
During the 2 seconds that the photo is being taken ... zoom the lens. This will form the general streaked color lines from the lights.
When you get your digital image on your computer, use Irfanview software special effects for "radial zoom" you can select several levels to achieve the effect you wish.
Note: 2 second exposure time is a guess. This will vary so you should shoot several times of exposure and select the best original for this type of effect. Hope this helps.
It really is easy and logical after you have seen it once. Fight with it a bit. This will open up a fascinating world of photography for you.

you have amazing talent! I wanted to say thanks for officially following my blog! I have a Nikon D40 and I still have a lot to learn, but your blog is fun of inspiration. I really love your photo Midwest Sunset, beautifully simple. LOVE IT! Keep shootin' photos! :)

btw ... some of you may not be familiar with the term ROYGBIV ... it's short for red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet.

Kaliedescopic Photos! Must be hard to hold it still enough so that all the little glass pieces don't move while you take the picture!! LOL!

It's a cool photo.
