Hi there, Mr. Baird, I have a culinary blog (http://elaromadeidania.blogspot.com/) and while visiting some of the blogs, I ran into yours. I've been trying to take good pictures...I can't. My husband and children game me an Olympus E-520 with a couple of lenses and some other accessories (last Christmas), but still my pictures do not come out like they should... In your profile, you say that anyone can get good pictures with any type of camera... will you care to elaborate on that, please??? We bought a Nikon when our son was born (a few years ago). My husband used to take pictures quite often, but has put photography aside and I've tried to pick it up, but my pictures are just that.. pictures. There's no art in them... I love your pictures... Sincerely, IDania
OK ... this will take time but I will try to make IDania's question into a complete post to modify and improve as I come up with a complete answer. It's a great question IDania ... and it is still something that I am searching for even this morning as I am out and about in Portland, Oregon. So give me some time and I will try to tell the guidelines that I have used to get to where I am today. I will try to tell you my thought process when I begin. I shoot an enormous number of photos today and I will tell you that I could not do this 30 years ago with the same results because it would bankrupt me. Digital photography makes learning quick and very easy to alter photos. Give me some time because this deserves time. Stay tuned. NikonSniper Steve

The cloud cover really adds to the deepness in the blue... and amazing light on the white capped river. Really excellent photo!!!
