Looks like terrain from a planet far, far away!! Great shot! You can even see the mountainous ranges in the background! Such a barren & lifeless looking place!
first, i really need to thank the people at the ridgecrest (CA) daily independent for telling me about this place. it was pouring rain. and i nearly got the rental car stuck in the mud but i got some photos back there i will never forget and i will go back for sure in better weather someday on another run out that way. about the trona pinnacles ... i can't do them justice. see this website for a start.
mick hyde, photo was iso400, 1/160, f9. i can't tell you how bad this shot is compared to what is there on a good day. it was horrible weather ... which did make for some really good shots traveling away from these pinnacles but i couldn't risk getting to where i wanted to brighten it all up the way i really wanted without overexposing. nikonsniper steve

Was someone trying to make giant meringues? Looks like the mixture is about ready for the sugar.
Great image Stephen, very alien landscape.
Did you use a high ISO setting on the camera?

Very interesting. I don't believe I've ever seen this place. Can you tell us more Steve?
