Wow this really does look like those barns you would imagine people in wagons and bonnets to have in the stories of old. Beautiful constrast against the lush green grass and clear blue sky.

So sad. I remember the painted bars of my childhood. I love to dream about living out in the country and having even more space to freely wander. We had a small ten-acre farm but it was all "farmed" with vegetables, fruit trees, corn and hay fields. We even had five horses and various other animals. I just think that those abandoned picture perfect red barns are saddening. It's like visible proof of a dead dream.

I think your photograph's composition, combining the image of the untended property and still red barn...in its quiet beauty communicates this sentiment.
