Are these the Cascades or the Blue Mountains?

Is it not the most stunning sight? You have captured our world as it truly is. I have so much trouble getting this beauty... that of your photo above... across to people who do not come here.

ananda girl.
i was recently asked where i specifically took these kinds of photos from people from this area. i was surprised. you northwesterners can take this kind of photo all the time in almost any direction. this photo was taken at sundown top of crater lake. there are a million angles of this shot available. the thing that i will remember about this shot the most is that i chose a fast shutter speed because i was constantly moving during the shoot due to nearly being eaten alive by mosquitos. you are so lucky to see sights like this. you are exactly right. this is washington. this is oregon. this is the northwest of this great land.

meri,
please excuse my ignorance of the exact locations of those two mountain ranges. this is from crater lake. if the north entrance is 12 o'clock and the south entrance is 6 o'clock, this was shot at 9 o'clock after the sun had already disappeared.
hope that helps.

If you are talking "east" being 9 o'clock they are the Cascades. If you are calling 9 o'clock west, they are the Siskyou Mountain Range and they are both equally fabulous. I'm reading your directions as The Cascade Mountain Range.

ananda girl,
9 o'clock would be due west toward riddle, oregon. i am not sure what mountains are that direction.

Very nice capture - beautiful composition that suits the scene very well. Love the layering that draws your eye in, onto the horizon and into the gorgeously coloured sky.

Nice one!

This is SO beautiful!! It looks like one of Bob Ross's paintings! Do you remember him?..... I can just hear him now "Let's paint some happy little trees shall we"?! :) ~Sarah~

Sarah,
I am not familiar with Bob Ross paintings. I will look him up.

Wow...if it wasn't for the mozzies, a person could probably stand and gaze at this breathtaking scene & drink it in for as long as it lasts.I would be inclined to worship God in my heart.
Thank you.
